Join the PTO and receive 1 raffle ticket towards a 42″ Insignia Plasma HDTV! Better yet, for every $10 donated to the PTO through the Fall Fundraiser, you’ll get another raffle ticket. Together we’ll raise funds for a new computer lab and one lucky winner will go home with a fabulous new TV just in time for the holidays! TV winner will be announced at Bingo on December 3rd.
Think of it…if each of the 560 families at MVES donated $50, we’d have $28,000 towards the $34,000 we need for new computers. Talk about putting a dent in it!

SATURDAY (October 2nd): MVES COUGAR TAILGATE PARTY and PTO FLAG FOOTBALL
Each grade level will be collecting coins throughout the week to see who has the most COUGAR SPIRIT! All proceeds will go towards the new MVES computer lab.

Welcome back! We are looking forward to an exciting year at Mountain View. The PTO has many exciting events and programs planned for the 2011-2012 school year.
Bottom line is that the more members we have, the better school we have. We need your ideas, talents, volunteer hours, and donations to create a successful PTO that helps reach the high goals we have set at MVES. No individual has all of the answers, but collectively, we’ve got it all.

Join the MVES PTO and be part of the excitement. Family membership dues are only $15 for the school year. It’s an easy investment that goes a long way. The money we collect through dues and the Fall Fundraiser enable us to sign contracts for large events, pay for assemblies and counseling initiatives, give back to teachers through supplies and Scholastic educational materials, financially improve encore programs, raise the academic bar, and so much more.

The Cougar Bank, Mountain View Elementary School’s student-run bank sponsored through a business partnership with Virginia Commerce Bank, will be opening on October 20th. If you don’t have a Cougar Bank account open yet, now is the time to establish your account and be ready for our grand re-opening. Complete a Cougar Bank Account Request Form today to receive an information packet!
The Cougar Bank is staffed by 4th and 5th grade students at Mountain View who serve as tellers, marketing specialists, assistant managers, and managers. If you would like to apply to work at the bank, please complete a Cougar Bank Employee Application and return it to your homeroom teacher by Friday, September 17, 2010.
MVES families and local businesses are invited to purchase personalized brick pavers which will be used to create beautiful seating areas outside of the school. What a wonderful way to commemorate your family’s days at Mountain View. The first installation of pavers went in on Earth Day 2010.
Some additional ideas:
Be creative, and make sure to check out the complete plans in the lobby.
Your company may purchase an 8 “x 8″ brick paver that has a cougar paw print and your company name permanently engraved. Your brick will be there for generations to come, promoting your support of MVES! Bricks will be mingled in with 4″ x 8″ student bricks installed in new seating areas leading up to the school. Be sure to see the display in the school entrance and check out the new landscaping plan that ties in educational elements to beauty and greening MVES.
